Who is Benita Alexander?

Benita Alexander is a former fiance of convicted doctor Paolo Macchiarini. She was working with NBC when she first met Macchiarini in February of 2013. Benita Alexander reportedly met Dr. Paolo to make a documentary on him as he was already famous when she met him. Benita Alexander first met Dr. Polo at Boston’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel to discuss his ground-breaking medical advances.

At first, both Benita and Paulo decided to focus on their work and keep their relationship on more of a friendship side. But, this started to go steamy between them as they both used to spend much time together, courtesy of their work. Finally, by June 2013, Alexander and Paolo spent an  'incredibly romantic weekend' together in Venice. Just two weeks later she flew to Stockholm to see him again.

Benita and Paolo's romance blossomed into commitment when the famous Doctor proposed to her on Christmas Day 2013 and the journalist happily accepted.  Benita Alexander was planning to move to Europe to live with Macchiarini and therefore she quit her job at NBC on May 13, 2015. It was said that Paolo told his journalist fiance that they would get married with the blessings of Pope Francis. However, Benita caught Paolo's lies when she found out an email about Pope's summer plan. She asked Paolo about his lies but the Doctor said that there is internal politics going on in the Vatican and hence Pope cannot come to officiate the wedding.

As a result, Benita's suspicion grew and she reportedly hired a private investigator. Later, she found out that Dr. Paolo Macchiarini was still married to his wife of 29 years. He also had another mistress and was living in Barcelona with her and two small children.

Where is Benita Alaxender now?

As per Benita's social media profile, she served as the executive producer of a documentary film about the ill-fated romance titled He Lied About Everything in 2018. Currently, Benita Alexander works as a producer and also serves as the CEO of Berraca Productions, a company she created to 'further her advocacy work empowering women who are the survivors of fraud.'
