In a major development, famous comedian and influencer Shyam Rangeela on Wednesday announced that he will fight in Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Varanasi. It means Shyam Rangeela will be up against Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has won Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Varanasi for the past two consecutive terms. Shyam Rangeela rose to fame for his unbelievable mimicry of none other than Prime Minister  Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Shyam took to his official X handle and shared his video in which he said, "Today, I am doing my Man Ki Baat. All of you are questioning whether ShyamRangeela is telling the truth or not. You may be all thinking that since I am a comedian he must be joking. But, this is not a joke. I am fighting elections from Varanasi. And, I am fighting against Modi Ji." Who is Shyam Rangeela?

 

Comedian Shyam Rangeela's real name is Shyam Sundar. He was born in 1994 and comes from the Manaktheri Barani village of Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district. Before getting fame in comedy, Shyam pursued an animation course. However, he was passionate about stand-up comedy. Thereafter, in 2017, Shyam Rangeela's flawless mimicry of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the stage of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge rose him to fame. The video went viral on social media and made him an overnight star. He also mimicked former Congress President Rahul Gandhi.   

 

Shyam joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2022 in Rajasthan. Before joining the party, Shyam even tagged PM Modi in his tweets on X and said it was disappointing that couldn't go on TV shows because the people 'fear you', asking if his 'mimicry was a crime'.

 

Notably, Shyam stated that he was a staunch follower of PM Modi. He had supported PM Modi and the BJP in the 2014 General Elections. He, however, said that growing "intolerance towards satire and mimicry of politicians" over the last 10 years made him change his mind and compelled him to try his hands at politics. 

 

Notably, Shyam Rangeela will be fighting Lok Sabha Elections 2024 as an independent candidate. Shyam is famous on social media as well. On Instagram, Shyam enjoys 198K Followers (while writing) and on X, the 29-year-old comedian has 251.3K followers. 

 

Talking about the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, Congress has fielded its Uttar Pradesh unit chief, Ajay Rai, from Varanasi. Ajay Rai finished third in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Among other candidates, transgender Mahamandaleshwar Hemangi Sakhi is also a candidate in the high-profile seat in Uttar Pradesh.
