In a major blow for the Congress party, AICC Secretary In-Charge Himachal Pradesh, Tajinder Singh Bittu resigned on Saturday. Tajinder Singh Bittu's resignation is a big blow to Congress as he was considered the close confidante of INC leader Priyanka Gandhi. Tajinder Singh Bittu's resignation comes in the backdrop of reports that he is likely to join the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Tajinder Singh Bittu sent his resignation to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. In a Facebook post, Bittu shared his resignation letter and said, "With heavy heart , after 35 years , I resign from the Congress party." Now, the question arises who is Tajinder Singh Bittu? Who is Tajinder Singh Bittu?

 

As per reports, Bittu remained away from politics for 12 years. However, in 2017, Tajinder Singh Bittu started working for the Congress party again. Tajinder Singh Bittu has his roots in Punjab as well. He has served as the Chairman of Jalandhar Improvement Trust.  As per MyNeta.info, Tajinder Singh Bittu is an LLB Graduate. Tajinder Singh Bittu has no criminal cases against him.

 

In his resignation to Kharge, Tajinder Singh Bittu wrote, "I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress and from my post AICC, secretary Co-Incharge of Himachal Pradesh, effective immediately."

 

As per reports, Bittu is in Delhi and he will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It is also reported that Bittu will join the BJP which will bolster the saffron party's footprint in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
