Social media influencer & popstar Zephyr Ruth recently shared a video and alleged that she was subjected to eve-teasing inside a hotel by two drunk men. Zephyr Ruth shared the alleged eve-teasing video on her Instagram handle Zephyrtone saying that she and Sayan were having some fun in the corridor of a hotel when two drunk men started eve-teasing them and even threatening them. As per Zephyr Ruth, the incident happened right after her show. She also alleged that one of the drunk's men wife defended her husband saying that they did not touch them even though they were being eve teased.
"Right after our show got over, Me and Sayan were chilling with our fans, taking selfies right outside our hotel room. 2 drunk men, (who were also present at our gig and misbehaved with us there as well but we chose to ignore them.) got out of the lift and made disturbing sounds (eveteased) we decided to check their room number and confront them but they started hurling abuses and losing their control. Meanwhile one of the guy’s wife came out of their room and started defending the men even though she was not present when the incident happened. She went on to say things like “what was the reason for Eve teasing"
“Why do you think they will eve tease you” “ Even if they made sounds there’s nothing wrong in it” “They didn’t touch you right?’ And so on. This is the state of the country we live in where we raise our voice against injustice in return we are asked to shut down. Married women defending their husbands even after being aware of the truth deep down their husbands are eve teasers and womanisers. No doubt we come across several rapes happening every day, that too only registered one’s being reported in media! Can you imagine how many cases go unregistered! It’s so unfortunate that girls in our country have to face this on a daily. And even more unfortunate when a woman pulls other women down. This video is a proof that if you are entitled and have the money you can get away with anything in this country! Can’t imagine these entitled pieces of sh** raising kids whose definitely going to be their carbon copy," wrote the popstar duo on Zephyrtone.
After the video viral on X, a man named Manoj Kasyap who is apparently an Executive Director of Mahi Group reacted to it and stated that the clip is edited and not everything has been made public. As a result, Manoj Kasyap stated that he has mailed Courtyard Hotels in Shillong to release the full CCTV video of the night.
"Hi guys,i am aware of a video that is being circulated,a video conveniently edited to potray one side of the story and play a victim card. For me to showcase the progression of these events i would need the CCTV footage from @CourtyardHotels at shillong. So as requested by Marriott we have sent an email to the concerned party and we request them to post the video so that everyone knows what really happened," wrote Manoj Kasyap.
