As per Chinese media reports, Zhong Yang has served as the governor and deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Qiannan, Guizhou province. She joined the party in 1994 after graduating in history. Zhong Yang is known for starting the Fruit and Agriculture Association which aimed to help farmers and needy elderly.
Zhong Yang Affairs were revealed in a documentary broadcast on Guizhou Radio and Television in January. In the documentary, it was revealed that Zhong Yang used to take bribes to develop physical relationships with her subordinates. Along with this, she also used his position to get lucrative contracts for his favorite companies. This included approving the development of 170,000 square meters of land in a high-tech industrial estate for a businessman. It is said that Zhong had a close relationship with the businessman. The businessman later converted the land for real estate development, which benefited Zhong greatly.
In the documentary, a businessman revealed that Zhong ignores companies with which she does not have a personal relationship. In April last year, the Guizhou Provincial Discipline Inspection and Supervision Committee reported that Zhong is suspected of serious disciplinary and legal violations. Along with this, Zhong is also accused of having physical relationship with 58 men. She used to spend time with men on the pretext of overtime and business trips. She was arrested in April 2023. She was removed from the post in September. She also lost her position in the National People's Congress. In the documentary, Zhong expressed grief over her work.
Zhong Yang also opened up about her crimes in the documentary. As per reports, Zhong Yang China Governor, stated that she had mistakenly believed she needed to cultivate a few trustworthy businessmen to help her handle political issues. "They told me... that my work and life should be like the dish, clean and pure,” said Zhong Yang adding “I accepted it every year and ate the food, but I didn’t take their advice to heart."
