Nearly 10 days after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as the state chief minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu stepped down from the post of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), a move that has changed the political dynamics of Congress in the state.

Navjot Sidhu’s unexpected move to resign from the post has also triggered speculations of another tussle brewing within the Congress.

Shortly after Sidhu announced his resignation, former chief minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh took to Twitter and said - "I told you so... He is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of Punjab."

It is being learnt that Navjot Sidhu was unhappy over the first expansion of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's cabinet.

Sources say there were disagreements between Sidhu and CM Channi over inclusion of some MLAs into the Cabinet. Besides, he was also unhappy over the non-inclusion of the MLAs of his choice in the expanded Cabinet and that the appointment of new Advocate General, A.P.S. Deol.

If sources are to be believed, Navjot Sidhu was not in favour of A.P.S. Deol to be appointed as Advocate General. However, despite his disagreement, CM and Deputy CM Randhawa decided to name A.P.S Deol as the new AG of Punjab.

Not just this, there were also reports of disagreements within the Congress over allocation of Portfolios to newly-inducted ministers. It was said; Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was eyeing on the home ministry, whereas Navjot Singh Sidhu was opposing his demand and wanted the ministry to remain under Chief Minister Channi.

In a letter to party President Sonia Gandhi, he wrote, "The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab."

"Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress," he added.

Meanwhile, sources say Navjot Sidhu had approached Punjab Affairs Incharge Harish Rawat and other senior leaders to keep his points, but to no avail.

Well, it is worth seeing now how Congress High Command handles this issue and what will be their reaction to this development.
