Nearly 10 days after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned asthe state chief minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu stepped down from the post of thePunjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), a move that has changed the politicaldynamics of Congress in the state.

Navjot Sidhu’s unexpected move to resign from the posthas also triggered speculations of another tussle brewing within the Congress.

Shortly after Sidhu announced his resignation, formerchief minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh took to Twitter and said -"I told you so... He is not a stable man and not fit for the border stateof Punjab."

It is being learnt that Navjot Sidhu wasunhappy over the first expansion of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit SinghChanni's cabinet.

Sources say there were disagreements between Sidhu and CMChanni over inclusion of some MLAs into the Cabinet. Besides, he was alsounhappy over the non-inclusion of the MLAs of his choice in the expandedCabinet and that the appointment of new Advocate General, A.P.S. Deol.

If sources are to be believed, Navjot Sidhu was not infavour of A.P.S. Deol to be appointed as Advocate General. However, despite hisdisagreement, CM and Deputy CM Randhawa decided to name A.P.S Deol as the newAG of Punjab.

Not just this, there were also reports of disagreementswithin the Congress over allocation of Portfolios to newly-inducted ministers.It was said; Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was eyeing on the homeministry, whereas Navjot Singh Sidhu was opposing his demand and wanted theministry to remain under Chief Minister Channi.

In a letter to party President Sonia Gandhi, he wrote,"The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner, I cannever compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare ofPunjab."

 "Therefore, Ihereby resign as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Willcontinue to serve the Congress," he added.

Meanwhile, sources say Navjot Sidhu had approached Punjab Affairs Incharge Harish Rawat and other senior leaders to keep his points, but to no avail. 

Well, it is worth seeing now how Congress High Command handles this issue and what will be their reaction to this development.
