Farmers from across the country are flocking to Delhi to protest against the Central Government to pressure them into accepting their demands. But what are they? Here are the 12 demands of the SKM Farmers due to which they are protesting in Delhi:
1. Make a law for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops in accordance to the Swaminanthan Report.
2. All debts of farmers and laborers should be completely waived off.
3. Punish the culprits of Lakhimpur Kheri massacre and provide justice to the affected farmers.
4. Re-enforce the Land Acquisition Act 2013 across the country, ensure written consent from farmers and give compensation 4 times the collector rate.
5. Withdraw from the World Trade Organization and ban all free trade agreements.
6. Pensions should be given to farmers and agricultural labourers.
7. Provide 200 days of employment per year under MNREGA and a daily wage of Rs 700. Connect it with farming.
8. Families of farmers killed during the Delhi agitation should get compensation and one member of the family should get a job.
9. Repeal the Electricity Amendment Bill 2020.
10. Impose strict penalty on companies manufacturing fake seeds, pesticides etc.
11. Form a national commission for spices like chilli, turmeric.
