Amogh Lila Das who is quite famous on social media due to his motivational videos and preachings on Sanatan Dharma came under the scanner of social media over his controversial remarks on Swami Vivekanand and his guru Ramakrishna Paramhansa during one of his recent ‘pravachans’ (discourses). Amogh Lila Das in one of his pravachans had questioned the consumption of fish by Swami Vivekananda, stating that a virtuous man would never consume anything that harms an animal. Not only this, but also Amogh Lila Das took a dig at Swami Vivekananda's guru, Ramakrishna Paramhans. "If Vivekanand eats fish then the question arises whether such a spiritual and perfect man can eat it. There is kindness and empathy in the heart of a spiritual person, said Amogh Lila Das.

It is pertinent to mention here that ISKCON issued a statement and stated that it was pained by Amogh Lila Das's “inappropriate and unacceptable comments and his lack of understanding about the great teachings of these two personalities”, adding that he would be banned from Iskcon for a month’s period. Furthermore, ISKCON stated that Amogh Lila Prabhu had admitted to his mistake by making "unacceptable" remarks about Swami Vivekananda and his guru. He would, therefore, cut himself off from social life for a month to atone for his remarks.

Amogh Lila Das is a 43-year-old monk who is quite famous on social media. His motivational videos often go viral especially on Instagram. He has been associated with ISKCON for 12 years. He currently serves as the vice president of the Dwarka chapter of ISKCON, however, he is currently banned by the organization. His actual name is Ashish Arora and he was born in a Punjabi family in Lucknow. He currently lives in New Delhi. Before becoming a monk, he had a degree in software engineering in 2004 from Delhi College of Engineering. Also he has worked for a US-based multinational corporation. He left the corporate job in 2010 and has since become a dedicated Brahmachari (celibate), joining ISKCON at the age of 29.
