Rahul Gandhi, an MP from Kerala described his stint as 'refreshing' after representing Amethi, Uttar Pradesh in Lok-Sabh for fifteen years.

Gandhi was speaking at an event at Trivandrum. He said, "For the first 15 years, I was an MP in north. I had got used to a different type of politics. For me, coming to Kerala was very refreshing as suddenly I found that people are interested in issues and not just superficially but going into detail in issues."

JP Nadda, the president of BJP took notice of it and hit out at Gandhi. Nadd in a tweet said, "A few days back he was in the Northeast, spewing venom against the western part of India. Today in the South he is spewing venom against the North.  Divide and rule politics won’t work, @RahulGandhi  Ji!"

Gandhi also added, "And recently I was telling students that I really enjoy Kerala and Wayanad. Its is not just affection but it is the way you do your politics. There is intelligence with which you do your politics."

Gandhi family had a strong hold over Amethi but it was altered by Smriti Irani in 2019 Lok-Sabha elections. Rahul was defeated by Smriti Irani in the 2019 elections and he could only save his grace from Wayanad in Kerala.

S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister said, "India is one... never divide us". He also referred to his pan-India upbringing.

In a tweet, Jaishankar said, "I hail from the south. I am an MP from a western state. I was born, educated and worked in the north. I represented all of India before the world. India is one. Never run down a region; never divide us."

Meanwhile, Smriti Irani has also bought a land at Amethi triggering another strategy of political motives. She will set up his residence at Amethi and she also claimed that no MP made Amethi their residence.
