Earlier this week, Grammy-winning pop star Taylor Swift announced five Australian shows as part of her ‘Eras’ world tour in February 2024, featuring two shows at Melbourne’s Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and three shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium. All shows will be supported by Sabrina Carpenter. But, Brisbane was dropped from Taylor Swift's Eras tour. Harvey Lister, Chairman of venue management firm ASM Global Asia Pacific was quoted by a news portal who revealed the real reason behind it. Therefore, heartbroken fans looking for Taylor Swift Brisbane concert cancellation reason, below is everything you need to know-

As per Harvey, Taylor Swift had been "definitely holding dates" at Lang Park stadium, "but as the dates around the world fell into place, Australia got sandwiched a bit." Harvey added that "She comes through Japan, plays Australia, goes out through Singapore and then straight back to Europe." Mr Lister said that given Swift was devoting a week to each city on the tour and because Australia only had two weeks' worth of dates, only two cities would fit the schedule."There just wasn't time to keep leapfrogging from city to city," he said.

"So the decision was taken to play in Sydney and Melbourne where the stadiums can take about 100,000." Mr Lister highlighted that Australia, with a much smaller population than Japan, had more tour dates than Tokyo would.

"Which is just extraordinary," he said.

"[An] extraordinary number of people will go to the shows here."

Mr Lister said Swift's promoters had told him they probably could have done back-to-back dates for a month, but that would not be sustainable over the course of the tour.

"So the date period for Australia, which initially was going to be longer, when the tour was also coming to Brisbane, it got sandwiched between other dates in other countries, and effectively Australia was between Japan and Singapore," he said.

"We're normally just holding some dates around that and pencilling them out just in case there's a chance to roll into an additional one."

Millions of fans from across the country and New Zealand are expected to be scrambling when the tickets to Swift’s much anticipated stadium goes on sale next week. But fans in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth were left shocked by the news Swift’s Eras Tour would only be stopping in Australia in February for just five nights in Sydney and Melbourne.

The news devastated her Brisbane fans, with some Swifties contemplating flying south to see her, while one person started an online petition titled “Get Taylor Swift to Brisbane”. This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things, Brisbane.

One woman on TikTok complained: “What do you mean you are only going to Melbourne and Sydney – what did Brisbane do to you?”

Within hours of the 12-time Grammy winning artist’s announcement, Swifties launched a petition on charge.org calling for Brisbane to be included on the tour.

“Interestingly, there is a about a week in between her three concerts in Sydney and two concerts in Melbourne. That is the perfect opportunity,” fans suggested.

A heartbroken Queensland MP has joined the ranks of the thousands of die-hard Taylor Swift fans begging the pop icon to rethink her decision to skip the Sunshine State in her upcoming tour of Australia.

Sports Minister, and fellow Queenslander, Anika Wells crashed Mr Wallace’s press conference and declared the Anti-Hero songbird’s snub was an “outrage”. Mr Wallace, who has redesigned part of his website and started his own petition in a bid to get the star to come to Queensland, denied it would lead to Bad Blood between himself and Swift.

However, despite disappointment from upset Swifties, New Zealand's Finance Minister says he won't fund a visit from pop superstar Taylor Swift.

The chief executive of Auckland's Eden Park stadium, Nick Sautner, said he was not able to compete with taxpayer-funded Australian efforts. "It's an extremely competitive market," he told.

"There's significant investment from the state and federal governments in Australia.

Despite the huge economic draw of a Swift concert, Finance Minister Grant Robertson said he wasn't disposed to spending taxpayer funds on landing the pop star."It would be terrific for Taylor Swift to come to New Zealand and many, many people would enjoy that greatly but that isn't something that the government is going to be involved in," he said. Opposition campaign spokesman Chris Bishop said he is a fan and is going to Sydney, but he did rather go see her at Auckland. "It'd be fantastic to have her here, but I don't really think it should be a government priority," he added. This is the first time Brisbane has been excluded, with the Queensland city included in her previous five world tours.

People considering flying to Sydney to see Swift on February 23 would have to spend at least $158 per person return on flights, while travellers should also budget in a few hundred dollars a night for a hotel room.

The Eras Tour will also skip South Australia and Western Australia.
