UmaSofia Srivastava's resignation from the Miss Teen USA title has sent shockwaves in the fashion fraternity around the world. Americans are sensing that something fishy is going on between the model and the organisation. UmaSofia Srivastava's resignation came just two days after Noelia Voigt relinquished her crown of Miss USA. In her official statement, UmaSofia Srivastava vaguely narrated that she was resigning due to a misalignment of personal values with the organisation. However, she never revealed the exact reason. Now, UmaSofia Srivastava's resignation reason or UmaSofia Srivastava's cause of resignation has been revealed and it is indeed worrisome.

Why did UmaSofia Srivastava resigned?

 

NYP quoted an insider who revealed that UmaSofia Srivastava resigned due to continuous bullying. As per the report, UmaSofia Srivastava was under iron-clad contracts to silently smile despite “harmful workplace conditions."

 

“This toxic atmosphere is a serious concern...“There is an urgent need for intervention at the leadership level,"  the insider was quoted saying. 

 

The Insider further said, "The decision was not easy. Noelia and UmaSofia are extremely dedicated people who worked incredibly hard for the pageant. The decisions were not taken lightly. They all decided to do this together...They are afraid of speaking out more at this time because of the organisation. They don’t want this to have any lasting harmful effect on their futures."

The source further added that the alleged harassment and bullying has gotten so bad that UmaSofia Srivastava’s parents refused to let Miss USA Organisation President Laylah Rose speak to their daughter. 

 

For the unversed, UmaSofia Srivastava, 17, won was crowned the winner of the Miss Teen USA pageant, which was held in Reno, Nev., in September 2023. UmaSofia represented New Jersey. Uma Sofia's bio on the Miss Teen USA website described her as "the first Mexican Indian Miss New Jersey Teen USA," adding that she "hopes to become a U.N. ambassador." Furthermore, UmaSofia owns a YouTube channel where she shares her experience.
