After the murder of famous singer Sidhu Moose Wala, serious questions are being raised about the law and order situation in Punjab. Meanwhile, CM Bhagwant Mann has announced making a big change. The Punjab government posted senior police officer Ishwar Singh as Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order). The government had transferred Naresh Kumar from this post a week ago.

Singh, a 1993-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, was posted as the chief director of the state's Vigilance Bureau before this appointment. A statement issued by the Punjab government said, "Ishwar Singh is posted as Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order)."

Meanwhile, the state government has posted IPS officer Varinder Kumar as the chief director of the Vigilance Bureau in place of Singh. So far, the government is yet to announce the replacement of Kumar, who was holding the charge of ADGP (Prisons).

Yogi Adityanath already replaced the DGP of UP

Earlier last month, When Uttar Pradesh Police Chief Mukul Goel was removed from his post on the given orders of UP's CM. With that Yogi Adityanath has given a big message to the bureaucracy as well as the leaders and workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

During a meeting with BJP leaders and workers in Lalitpur on May 8, when the leaders placed a bunch of complaints about the officers in front of CM Yogi Adityanath, he clearly said – stop your brokerage, we will improve the officers. After returning from the Meerut tour after Lalitpur, He made it very clear to the leaders along with the bureaucracy by removing the head of the police department from the post.

Mann government is on the back foot

Kumar has a lot of experience in handling law and order. Kumar has been part of the Law and Order Department during the last three DGP's tenures. The Charanjit Singh Channi government had appointed Kumar to the Intelligence Department in January.

These changes made by the Punjab government are being considered very important. Since becoming CM, the opposition parties are not letting go of any issue of besieging the government on the issue of law and order. Not only this but the murder of Sidhu Moosewala murder has put the government on the back foot in the matter of law and order.

Punjab's DGP to be replaced soon?

Meanwhile, the Opposition parties in the state have been questioning the deteriorating law and order situation, citing these incidents.

BJP leader from Delhi Manjinder Singh Sirsa questioned the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government over the leak of the order to withdraw the security of 424 persons. He tweeted that making such a list public was dangerous for the protectees.

Now the question is after the assigning of a new ADGP in Punjab, can we see the replacement of the DGP very soon too following the heinous attacks in Punjab under the AAP government since they are in power more than half-dozen attacks have already taken place in Punjab whether it was Mohali Headquarters Blast, Patiala Clash or say recently Sidhu Moose Wala's death. All such incidents suggest that Punjab's high command is failing to adapt things under Mann's guidance and it also raised so many questions on the same.
