In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the activities of the Khalistani sympathizer and 'Waris Punjab de' chief, Amritpal Singh has been brought to Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam, where he will be interrogated by central intelligence agencies including Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Intellegence Bureau (IB).

Amritpal Singh, who was arrested earlier in the day by the Punjab Police from Rode village in Punjab, was flown in a special flight to Dibrugarh airport before being taken to the jail in the Upper Assam town.

According to officials, Singh had been on the run for over a month before his arrest. His arrest is seen as a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the activities of the Waris Punjab De, which has been under the scanner of security agencies for some time now.

Security in and around the jail premises has been beefed up since March 19, when the first batch of four members of the WPD were brought to the jail. Currently, a total of nine associates of the outfit are lodged in the jail.

During the interrogation, the intelligence agencies will question Singh about his Khalistani motives, why he was on the run from the police, his other contacts and links, and his plans to achieve his objectives. They will also probe him about the locations of his connections, his sources of funding, and any links with Pakistan, including which Pakistani agencies were cooperating with him, and who the real mastermind behind his activities is.

The interrogation of Amritpal Singh is expected to provide crucial information about the activities of Khalistani elements and their links with other radical outfits. The investigation is ongoing, and more information is likely to emerge in the coming days.
