Launching a crackdown against the illegal colonies, the Jalandhar Development Authority has recommended as many as 92 such colonies belonging to Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, and Kapurthala districts for legal action.
Divulging more, Chief Administrator of JDA Karnesh Sharma said that the department has initiated a special drive against the illegal colonies adding so far First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against the 19 illegal colonies by the police department. He further added that people who were indulged in this crime were identified and booked by the police department.
The FIRs were registered under sections 3, 5, 8, 9, 14(2), 15, 18, 21, and 36 (Amendment) of the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act 1995 (Amendment Act 2014) in various police stations on the complaint of Jalandhar Development Authority.
Disclosing more information, the JDA Chief Administrator said that more such actions to be taken in the coming days as the JDA has recommended legal action against the 92 illegal colonies belonging to the Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, and Kapurthala districts. These colonies include 59 in Jalandhar district, 3 in Kapurthala, and 30 in Hoshiarpur district, the CA added.
Mr. Sharma categorically said that no one would be spared in these cases as these illegal activities cause huge damage to the state exchequer in the form of tax evasion.
The 19 colonies booked by the police department include Gold City in Village Bhojowal, Penny enclave in Lidhran, Surjeet Udyog Nagar in Raipur Village, A-one Enclave village Ladoa, Sunjay Arora village Chaugavan, Dhaliwal Colony village Dhaliwal, Residential colony village Nahal, Residential colony Bhogpur, Hussain Avenue village Chaumo, Dhaliwal Enclave village Dhaliwal, Lidhran colony village Lidhran, New Green City village Foldiwal, Akash Enclave village Wadala, Happy Colony village Jamsher, Hazaran Enclave village Foldiwal, Green City village Foldiwal, Jamsher colony village Jamsher, SLT village extention village Foldiwal, and Gurunanak village Kukar Pind.
