In a bizarre incident, a woman went on a shooting spree on the Bay Bridge freeway in San Francisco, California on Tuesday evening causing major traffic gridlock. The woman who was topless started shooting random commuters during evening rush hour who were heading to the East Bay. The incident occurred around 4:38 pm (US local time)and the woman was filmed by one of the commuters crossing the area in his car. Seeing the topless woman shooting at several random cars, Bay Bridge motorists informed 911 dispatchers. The woman reportedly threatened random victims with a knife, and attempted to get into cars on the bridge as well. Reports further suggest that CHP officers located the woman walking on the bridge just before 6 p.m. Following that the woman was ordered to drop her weapons. The woman followed officers’ orders and was apprehended. Thereafter, an ambulance was called to the scene and she was transported to a local hospital for medical and psychiatric evaluations. Luckily, there was no injury reported, but the incident could have been fatal as the woman was firing all around.
CHP investigators in its statement wrote, "At approximately 4:38 PM, the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a reckless driver traveling eastbound on Interstate 80. The caller advised dispatchers that … the female driver brandished a firearm at them before speeding off. The suspect briefly stopped in traffic lanes and exited her vehicle where she brandished a knife and started yelling at drivers in other vehicles. The suspect then reentered her vehicle and continued driving eastbound. As the suspect approached the SFOBB toll plaza, she once again stopped the vehicle and exited, now completely naked, with a firearm in her hand. Witnesses reported that the suspect then began shooting the firearm in the air before firing shots at other vehicles nearby. There have been no reports of injuries as a result of the shooting."
