In 2020, the gorilla glue incident was a lesson for people trying out DIY things at home. But carelessness and overconfidence are still resulting in mishappening. Recently, an incident of carelessness has been circulated on the internet.

A 35-year-old woman from the United Kingdom mistakenly sealed her eyes from the nail glue and has nearly lost her vision. The woman is identified as Katie Beith.

Katie Beith was reportedly watching ‘A place in the Sun’, when she put the fast-drying glue into her right eye. She immediately sought medical attention as soon as she felt ‘burning’ pain.

Katie reached out for the adhesive, thinking that it would make her feel better as the high pollen count had made her hay fever worse. Unfortunately, it resulted opposite for her. Katie suffered from excessive burning and pain after she applied the nail glue to her right eye.

Katie told to media, “My eye was really itchy from hay fever so I thought I would go and put some drops in quick. I couldn’t find them in my bag.

I looked on the side and there was the same bottle so I just grabbed it quick, went to the mirror to put them in, and I put the tiniest amount. I thought, ‘Ooh that burns. My eyes must be really sore'. "Then I put another drop in for good measure and I thought 'that really burns'. I instantly looked at the bottle, ran to the kitchen, and started rinsing. It was really painful."

Katie had just applied two droplets of nail glue, and these two drops were enough to close her eyes completely. After this, she quickly rushed to her neighbors for help and eventually she managed to reach the nearest clinic, which was nearly 15 miles away from her home.

This isn’t the first time in history that someone has mistakenly put nail glue instead of eye drops. Earlier this year, a woman from Michigan said that she slept with her contact lenses in and when she woke up she wanted to take them out but as her eyes were dry she grabbed a small bottle from her purse which was believed to be of eye drops. But unfortunately, she took a similar-looking glue bottle which she uses to repair her broken fingernails.

Later, she was rushed to the hospital and her contact lens was out after two to three hours of surgery.
