World’s highest railway bridge set to be inaugurated: KNOW Vande Bharat Train that will cross it

Jammu and Kashmir’s railway connectivity is about to reach a milestone, with the inauguration of the world’s highest railway bridge, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on April 19, during this visit to Udhampur. 

This trip will commemorate two big events for the Indians: first, the inauguration of the world’s highest railway bridge - Chenab Bridge, and the flag of the Vande Bharat Express to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, making the first express train of the region. 

It is noteworthy that these two achievements will be marked as significant advancements in infrastructure and travel convenience.

• Inauguration of Chenab Bridge.
• Flagging off Vande Bharat Train between Srinagar and Katra. 

Significance of Chenab Bridge - 

• The bridge is built 359 m above the Chenab River, making it taller than the Eiffel Tower.
• Connects various remote regions with other regions of the country with the help of Indian Railways.

Significance of the Vande Bharat Express train - 

• The train that will run in this region has been named Vande Bharat 2.0, which is perfectly designed for extreme weather conditions and the mountainous terrain of the region.
• Coaches are featured with advanced heating systems to ensure perfect temperature during the freezing winters.
• The windshield will be embedded with heating elements, helping in the prevention of frost build-up.
• The total distance covered by the train will be 272 kilometers in just 3 hours, significantly reducing the traveling time.
