World’s oldest man dies at the age of 112

He was born in Ponte Castro, Leon, on February 11, 1909.

Saturnino de la Fuente, a Spaniard died on Tuesday at the age of 112 years and 341 days.

He passed away at his home in León, a city in northwest Spain. His name is recorded in Guinness book of World Records.  He was born in Ponte Castro, Leon, on February 11, 1909.

He was also known as “El pepino” during his lifetime.

He had seven children, 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was a cobbler by profession and started working in a shoe factory at the age of 13.

He survived Spanish flu pandemic in 1918.

 
As per Guinness website, the oldest person ever recorded was France's Jeanne Louise Calment who died in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days.

He was married to his wife Antonina Barrio Gutiérrez in 1933.
