Theyear brought a new and unprecedented challenge for Jalandhar CommissioneratePolice as apart from the general law and order issues, the district Police hadto deal with an invisible enemy in form of Covid 19- the global pandemic. Butled by Mr. Bhullar the cops ensured the safety and security of people both fromthe Corona Virus and from the anti-social elements too. The Khaki uniform,which always reminds us of the unparalleled sacrifices and heroic deeds ofseveral valiant police and paramilitary personnel across the country who laiddown their lives at the altar of their motherland, remained in the frontline toserve the people during Corona crisis. At a time when the entire globe wasfacing a new challenge in form of the Pandemic Covid 19, the Police forceembraced the new responsibility with full pride and combated it for saving thepeople from the scourge of this pandemic.
TheJalandhar Commissionerate Police remained on forefront to implement thelockdown in full letter and spirit to save the precious lives of people, byputting their own lives along with that of their family in peril. Duringscorching heat, incessant rains and now in spine chilling cold the copssuccessfully implemented the curfew and night curfew to save the lives ofpeople. The Commissionerate Police set a major benchmark of humane Policingduring the curfew/ lockdown by rendering services diligently, honestly and ahighly professional manner. The Commissioner of Police, who himself remained infield from early morning to late night, ensured that the Cops performed theirduty in an exemplary manner by giving a humane touch to it to save the lives ofpeople.
Besidesupholding the glorious tradition of Police in serving the people with utmostzeal and dedication, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police went extra mile forgiving a healing touch to the people during the lockdown/ curfew imposed tokeep the Covid 19 pandemic. The role of Cops was not only confined tomaintenance of law and order or strict implementation of the lockdown but as afact of matter the Police was doing multitasking duty during this hour ofcrisis. The Police donned the cap of santa clause to help the people in thishour of grave crisis.
Fromproviding medicines, grocery, milk and other things to needy people tocelebrating the birthday of kids, who were stuck in lockdown and then ensuringmedical aid to people in their own vehicles, the Police did everything to servethe people. The humane Policing done byJalandhar Commissionerate Police during this hour of crisis not onlystrengthened the faith of people in working of Punjab Police but also ensuredthat people were extremely benefitted by it.
TheCops apart from rendering their regular duty of maintaining law and order didan exceptional service by making the people about the precautions to be takenduring the pandemic. They encouraged the people to wear masks, wash their handswith soap or sanitize them and maintain social distancing to keep the diseaseat bay. Not only confining to this the Cops also left no stone unturned forarranging the food and dry ration for the needy people who were not able to getfood.
Whereverrequired the Commissioner of Police also roped in the services of thephilanthropists and other willing persons to extend a helping hand to thefamilies in need. Upholding the glorioustradition of the Punjab Police to serve the people zealously, theCommissionerate Police pulled all the plugs to help the people in this hour ofgrave crisis. The helpful nature, honesty and earnestness of this JalandharCommissioner Police has further enhanced the prestige of Punjab Police in theeyes of general public who have expressed their gratitude for the force timeand again.
Onlaw and order side the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police witnessed a steep fallin the snatching cases in compare to last two years. As compared to 39 cases ofchain snatching registered in 2018 only nine cases were reported this year.Similarly against 101 cases of mobile phone snatching registered in 2018 only33 were registered this year. Total 169 cases of cash/ purse snatching wereregistered in 2018 which fell to 36 this year and only six cases of vehiclesnatching were filed this year as compared to seven in 2018. TheCommissionerate Police was able to solve 73% of total case registered thisyear, which was only 41% in 2018.
Ina major action against illegal liquor in its jurisdiction, the JalandharCommissionerate Police also registered 679 cases under the Excise Act byarresting 754 accused and seizing 63,750 ml of illicit liquor, 2.70 lakh ml oflicit liquor, 1.90 crore ml English wine and 1448 kilograms of Lahan. TheCommissionerate Police also registered 3841 cases under various sections ofIndian Penal Code against people indulging in hurt, kidnapping, abduction,rape, burglary, theft, snatching , robbery , fraud and others.
