In a heartbreaking development, a 21-year-old youth on Wednesday died after suffering head injuries at Khanauri border. On Wednesday, the faceoff between Haryana Police and the farmers intensified after the peasant leaders rejected the Centre's offer to give MSP for the next five years on a certain number of crops. The farmers demanded MSP on at least 23 crops and therefore, the fourth round of talks failed. Following this, farmers brought heavy vehicles including JCBs, bulldozers, etc to uproot any kind of barricades installed by the Haryana Police to stop the farmers from marching to Delhi. After 11 am, a massive face off took place and during that, a farmer from Bathinda village lost his life.

As per reports, the protester who died at Khanauri border has been identified as Shubhkaran Singh. He was aged between 21 and 22. He is the son of Charanjeet Singh of Ballo village in Bathinda district and has two sisters. Notably, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, "We did not send any youth at the front, instead leaders themselves went peacefully. The way they attacked us (with tear gas shells), everyone saw that. We have never refused for talks, but it is not possible to hold discussions in such an environment."

Apart from Pandher, SKM (Non-Political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that a farmer part of the protest also died and the unions will carry out his last rites.
