Sources have alleged that Sewa Singh returned back to his village 4 years ago due to his deteriorating health and had been living alone ever since. His daughter and son-in-law, as well as his wife, all live abroad. The house is equipped with CCTV cameras that showed Sewa Singh praying in front of a framed photo in his room and capturing the last moments of his life at 7:29, when he shot himself with a 6.6 bore pistol. The pistol was fully loaded with only one bullet that pierced his lifeless body.

20 years of employment as a nurse and more than 20 years living next door have taught Pooja far more than changing bedpans. When she arrived at the house around 8:30 pm to prepare dinner, she was met with the sight of Sewa Singh quelling his lifeless body slumped at the table.

As per a statement given by Nurmahal police in-charge Krishna Gopal, a detailed investigation is underway. The forensic squad reached the scene at 1:30 am to begin their checks. Sewa Singh is reported to have once worked as a manager in a BMW deal in England and was residing in a house which is nearly 15 marlas. Pooja has already notified her relatives in England about the occurrence.

According to the police, the last rites will be performed only after his arrival. At present the dead body is being sent to the government hospital in Phillaur for postmortem.
