In a heartbreaking development, African pop singer Zahara died at the age of 35. Zahara's death reportedly took place on Monday. The 35-year-old Afro-pop star was reportedly admitted to a hospital for the past one month. Recently, Zahara was featured in BBC's 100 Women list. Zahara's death took place in Johannesburg Hospital in South Africa. Now, the question arises what is Zahara's death reason or Zahara's cause of death, or what happened to Zahara? What happened to African singer Zahara?

 

As per reports, Zahara died after suffering from liver problems from years of alcohol abuse. Reports suggest that Zahara battled alcoholism for years and was hospitalised last month before her death on Monday. Zahara whose real name was Bulelwa Mkutukana first rose to fame in 2011 with album Loliwe before she was included in the Beeb's list of influential women.

 

Notably, South Africa's Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa announced Bulelwa Mkutukana's death and said the government had been helping her family for "some time now". 

 

South African Cultural Ministry on X wrote, "I am very saddened by the passing of @ZaharaSA . My deepest condolences to the Mkutukana family and the South African music industry. Government has been with the family for some time now. Zahara and her guitar made an incredible and lasting impact in South African music."

 

Notably, after the ministry's post, many Africans could not believe that Zahara has passed away. A user commented, "Are you sure of this?" Another user wrote, "@destinyzee, hi beautiful i highly doubt that a statesman would post such without proper due diligence of the matter." One more user wrote, "Who's your source?"
