A major infrastructure proposal was approved during the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Wednesday, April 9. It is anticipated that this upcoming project will help in strengthening the development of the country.
According to the latest proposal, the country will have more railway lines and more highway bypasses will be built along with the modernized irrigation network.
The details of the latest project were shared by Union Minister Aswini Vaishnaw - who also highlighted that these steps would significantly improve the connectivity, environment, and employment.
Some of the projects which would be covered under this are as follows -
Construction of Zirakpur Bypass - Connection between Punjab and Haryana -
The construction of the Zirakpur Bypass has been approved by the Cabinet Committee. The road will be a 6-land and 19.2-kilometer long road. The total cost of the project is around ₹1,878.31 crore, and it will be a connection for the key junctions of National Highways in Punjab and Haryana.
The construction of the project will start at NH-7 (Zirakpur-Patiala) and end at NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo). This newly constructed highway will provide relief from the busy traffic regions near Zirakpur, such as Panchkula. In addition to this, the project will provide easy and direct connectivity between Patiala, Delhi, Mohali, and Himachal Pradesh. Not only this, but this highway will also provide a ring road network connectivity between Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali.
The project will be constructed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
Doubling of Tirupati-Pakala-Katpadi Railway Line
The Central Government has announced that the length of the railway line, which runs between Triupati-Pakala-Katpadi, will be doubled. Notably, the project will be worth ₹1,332 crore, improving travel and logistics.
The M-CADWM Scheme -
The continuation of the PM-Agriculture Irrigation Scheme (M-CADWM) has been approved until 2025-26.
The major aim behind the scheme is to provide better irrigation services and reduction of water wastage during agricultural practices. Under this scheme, around ₹1,600 crore of investment has been expected.
These key projects are expected to boost the country’s infrastructure, generate employment, support environmental protection, and bring improvements to the agriculture sector.
