
Google Tuesday dedicated its doodle tocelebrate the 32nd birthday of Swedish superstar DJ, producer, songwriter, andhumanitarian Tim Bergling — known best by his stage name Avicii. During hisbrief career, Avicii redefined the dance-pop scene by mixing electronic musicwith many different musical genres.
He was a child prodigy who started out withprofessional work quite early in life. At 16, he was ready to take on the worldwith his music by his side. He got his first record deal when he was just 17.
Google Doodle page reads: “Desiring more thanjust industry success, Bergling also set off on “House for Hunger,” a 2012American tour that donated its proceeds to combating food insecurity worldwide.That year, Madonna joined him in closing Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, wherethe pair broke the festival’s live stream viewer record.”
Google spoke with Avicii’s father, Klas Bergling,about his son and mental health. “The Doodle is fantastic, my family and I feelhonored and Tim would have been very proud and loves it. It is a friendly andwarm story of a young man fulfilling his dream to be a DJ and at the same timetelling us that our journey in life is not always easy despite fame andfortune,” he said.
Avicii also won several global music awardssuch as Swedish Grammis Awards for Best Innovator (2012) and Best Artist(2014), as well as a World Music Award for Best Electronic Dance Artist (2014).In the US, he was nominated for several Grammys and won the American MusicAward for Electronic Dance Music Artists (2013), the Billboard Music Award forTop Dance/Electronic Song (2014), and the MTV Music Award for Best Dance MusicVideo (2018).
Notably, Avicii, was one of the top DJs inthe world when he passed away at the age of 28 in 2018 because of suicide. Heis widely considered to have forever altered the trajectory of the Pop genre.
