Happy Birthday Sachin Tendulkar: Sachin Tendulkar was born on this day in 1973 in Mumbai. His father Ramesh Tendulkar was a fan of musician Sachin Dev Burman, hence he was named Sachin. 

Sachin was interested in cricket since childhood. His father got him admitted to Ramakant Achrekar, the Guru called 'Dronacharya' of cricket, who thoroughly nurtured Sachin's cricketing talent.

Sachin wanted to become a fast bowler, not a batsman Initially, Sachin wanted to become a fast bowler. 

He also went to a training camp to learn bowling, where he was told by coach Dennis Lillee to focus his entire attention on batting. After this, he put his full focus on batting and later on he was called the God of Cricket.

Debut at the age of 16:

Sachin made his debut for India at the age of 16 in a Test match against Pakistan on 15 November 1989. Sachin could only score 15 runs in the first innings of this Test match played at the National Stadium in Karachi. Waqar Younis was the bowler who dismissed Sachin, incidentally, he was also playing his first match.


A month after his Test debut, Sachin made his ODI debut against Pakistan in Gujranwala on 18 December 1989, in which he was dismissed for zero. 

After his first match, Sachin Tendulkar did not look back and went on to become the greatest batsman in the world.

Sachin played his last international match against West Indies in Mumbai on 14-16 November 2013. In his last Test innings, Sachin was dismissed after scoring 74 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar is the only batsman in the world to score 100 international hundreds. 

The record of most runs in Tests, ODIs, centuries

In his 24-year long international cricket, Sachin made almost all the big batting records in his name. In his 200 Tests, he scored 15921 runs and scored 51 centuries and 68 half-centuries. 

At the same time, he scored 18426 runs in 463 ODIs with the help of 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries. Sachin holds the record for scoring the most centuries and runs in Tests and ODIs.

He is the only batsman to score 100 international centuries

Sachin as well as the only batsman in the world to score 100 centuries in international cricket. It is very difficult to break his record soon. 

In terms of making the most centuries in international cricket, Ricky Ponting is second with 71 centuries and Virat Kohli is number three with 70 centuries.
