
Saudi Prince, Mohammed bin Salman has introduced his newvision ‘Vision 2030’ regarding the education sector. Under Vision 2030, Hinduepics Ramayana and Mahabharata are being taught to students.
The news came after a tweet by Nouf Almarwaai, who isPadma Shri Awardee for being the first certified yoga instructor in Saudi Arabia,went viral on social media. The tweet included the screenshots of her son’ssocial studies exam that had questions about Hinduism, Buddhism, and Hinduepics Ramayana and Mahabharata.
The viral tweet read, “Saudi Arabia’s new #vision 2030and curriculum will help to create a coexistent moderate and tolerantgeneration. A screenshot of my son’s school exam today in Social Studiesincluded concepts and history of Hinduism, Buddhism, Ramayana, Karma, andMahabharata Dharma. I enjoyed helping him study.”
According to Vision 2030, the history and culture ofother countries are being studied to provide students with more knowledge ofthe history, culture, and literature of other countries. Other significantelements of Indian cultures such as Yoga and Ayurveda apart from the Hinduepics are also included in the curriculum. The English language has also beenmade mandatory for students.
The Saudi Vision Of 2030 has various aspects. It's mainobjective is to create an educational system that can overcome the hardshipsbetween the government and various businesses. Through this curriculum underVision 2030, Saudi Arabia seeks to create an environment for investment interms of the global economy.
