Dhurandhar movie showcase that Javed Khanani was among the key conspirator who helped in the funding of terrorists who carried out the infamous 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks.

The movie has showcased that Khanani not only helped in the funding of Mumbai Terror Attacks but his fake notes factory in Karachi was a center where terror handlers and ISI officials hatched plans, and even instructed terrorists by watching Indian media reporting from where Indian forces were trying to enter Taj Hotel in Mumbai.

Khanani's crime against India was not only limited to funding terror strikes in Mumbai but also he had somehow acquired Rs 500 and Rs 1000 Indian Currency plates. Hence, Khanani was flooding India with fake currency notes.

Reports further suggest that for two decades, Khanani helped bankroll one of the most sophisticated covert economic assaults India had ever faced by flooding Indian market with fake currency notes.

Deccan Chronicles report that Khanani's company carried out 40 percent of all money exchange transactions in Pakistan at the time.

What happened to Javed Khanani and his twin brother Altaf after 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks?

Javed Khanani died in December 2016 under mysterious circumstances by falling from a building in Karachi. A few reports suggest that Javed took his own life.

Notably, Khanani's death took place just a month after the Modi Government announced demonetisation in India. Under demonetisation, all existing Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes were announced to be a 'piece of paper with no value'.

After a massive hunt involving five nations, Khanani was arrested in Panama in September 2015 by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He was later sent to the US, where a court sentenced him to 68 months in prison.

Khanani was released from prison on July 13.

US Treasury Department as per Business Insider Report in 2017 stated that Khanani and Kalia International (KKI) was one of the largest and most sophisticated exchange companies in Pakistan, running a global network of franchises that could move "billions of dollars" around the world.

"Khanani is known to have had relationships with Lashkar-e-Taiba, Dawood Ibrahim, Al Qaeda and Jaish-e-Mohammed," the Treasury Department said in November 2015.
