Aditya Dhar's directorial action-thriller Dhurandhar has been making waves not only in India but also in Pakistan and other countries. While Pakistan and a few other Arab countries have banned the movie, Dhurandhar continues its successful theatrical run in India and other countries.

Dhurandhar is inspired by true events that revolve around Karachi's Lyari Gang War and also showcase how gangsters, politicians, and Pakistan's Intelligence ISI work hand-in-hand against India.

The movie showcase that things start to go haywire when Rehman Dakait decide to make his own political party and fight from Lyari constituency. It was Jameel Jamali who used to fight from there and also won due to Rehman Dakait's support.

However, Rehman Dakait's political ambition brought him and Jameel Jamali at loggerheads. While Jameel Jamali maintained that he supports Rehman Dakait, he started to plot against him behind his back. For example, the reinstatement of SP Choudhary Aslam played by Sanjay Dutt in the movie.

As per Pakistani media outlets, Nabil Gabol had a political connection with Rehman Dakait aka Rehman Baloch. Nabil Gabol has also been accused by Rehman's family of supporting police action in which Rehman Dakait was killed.

A 2009 Dawn report suggests that just months before Rehman Dakait's encounter, Nabil Gabol addressed a press conference from the gangster's home in Lyari.

It is pertinent to mention here that after Rehman Dakait's encounter, his wife accused Asif Ali Zardari of murder and Nabil Gabol of supporting the encounter.

For the unversed, Nabil Gabol is currently an elected Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-239 (Karachi South-I).

Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has opened up about the detailed process behind shaping his character in Dhurandhar during an interview with IANS.

He revealed that the role draws inspiration from multiple Pakistani political figures, combining their speech patterns, mannerisms, and personality traits to create an authentic on-screen persona. When asked about crafting a character as quirky and layered as his role in "Dhurandhar," Rakesh explained that he approached it with detailed preparation and careful observation.

He stated, “The character is inspired by real incidents and is created by combining traits of several Pakistani politicians. I studied speeches, tones, diction, and body language of many leaders—not just one. The look was designed by Aditya sir along with the prosthetics team. I focused on the speech pattern, voice, mannerisms, and small nuances that give the character authenticity.”
