In 2011, farmers and the Police administration came at loggerheads. Farmers started protests against state government's land acquisition in Uttar Pradesh.

As per a report published in 2011 by BBC, villagers clashed with armed police who tried to break up a four-month-old sit-in protest at the village. They had been fighting the terms of the acquisition of their farmland in the Greater Noida area by the Uttar Pradesh state government.

Farmers opposed acquisition terms for the Yamuna Expressway, claiming compensation was far below. Rahul Gandhi's bike yatra during the controversy had hogged global headlines.

The case brought the Mayawati Government and UPA's Central Government at loggerheads as well.
