The answer is yes and no at the same time. While the story is fictional, Saare Jahan Se Accha is inspired by real life events that took place in the 1970s when India and Pakistan were witnessing a nuclear arms race.
Interestingly, a JioHotstar series Salakaar was recently and it was based on a similar topic.
However, Saare Jahan Se Accha will have its prime focus on how RAW agents outwitted Pakistan's secret service ISI in the 1970s when Pakistan was trying to make its own nuclear weapon.
During the 1970s, it was evident that Pakistan was making its nuclear bomb not for its safety but to destroy and threaten India. Hence, India's secret service RAW was trying to derail Pakistan's nuclear program.
Saare Jahan Se Accha features Pratik Gandhi as RAW agent Vishnu Shankar who is tasked to thwart Pakistan's nuclear program, Sunny Hinduja plays Murtaza Mallik, an ISI agent, Rajat Kapoor plays Vishnu’s superior, and actress Tillotama Shome plays Vishnu’s new bride.
