As shared by multiple fans on social media, users believe that the makers deliberately left many questions unanswered. This is had led people to believe that Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 8 was not the real finale episode.
Fans believe that Vecna aka Henry Creel aka Mr. Whatsit aka 001 created a false reality. As per Conformity Gate theory, a secret Episode 9 may exist. Fans had believed that release date is January 7. However, Netflix has not confirmed this claim. The Duffer Brothers have also remained silent.
Fans believe Vecna trapped characters and viewers in a false ending. Supporters argue characters appear changed in the epilogue. They say behavior and visual patterns support this idea. The theory gained attention through a document shared by an X user named 67gate. The document lists visual clues and story gaps.

Till now, it seems like the Conformity Gate theory is just fan made and there is no Strange Things Episode 9 in the works or likely to be released.
