
7 districts of Punjab continued to face flood problem on Thursday. Punjab Flood has started to be deadly as reports suggest that 2 people died in Madhopur and 1 in Gurdaspur due to drowning in water. 4 people of a family are missing in Pathankot.
The worst situation is in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ferozepur and Fazilka. More than 150 villages here have been affected by floods. There is 5 to 7 feet of water in many areas.
More than 2000 people were rescued and taken to relief camps in Ferozepur. Army, NDRF, and Punjab Police are engaged in relief and rescue work.
Amid floods in Punjab, multiple organizations have also hit the ground zero and are involved in rescuing people from flood-hit areas.
1) UNITED SIKHS
On August 25, the team of UNITED SIKHS visited Ferozepur and shared a video of rescuing people on a boat. It share the video with the caption that reads-
"Floods have torn through Punjab, leaving villages submerged and farmers devastated as their crops and homes are washed away.
In this moment of despair, UNITED SIKHS volunteers are on the ground, rescuing families, providing clean water, free health checkups, daily essentials, and the support our communities desperately need.
This seva continues only with the strength of the Sangat.
Together, we can help Punjab recover and rebuild."
2) Sarbat Da Bhala
Sarbat Da Bhala which is an NGO has also stepped onto ground zero to help people affected by flood. Sarbat Da Bhala also reached Ferozepur to help the people affected by flood.
The NGO also posted a video with the caption that reads, "..The team, along with the administration, visited the villages that were hit hard by the overflowing waters of the Sutlej and Beas rivers at Harike Headworks.
These areas have suffered extensive damage, with entire villages submerged, floodwaters entering homes, and crops completely destroyed posing danger to both people and livestock.
Residents of these villages had requested that the Trust team visit them and convey their plea to Dr. Oberoi for urgent assistance.
The Ferozepur team met with affected families, discussed their hardships, and also distributed some relief material."
3) Hemkunt Foundation
NGO Hemkunt Foundation is also involved in relief works in Punjab in flood affected areas. Their Instagram bio reads that they are the fastest growing NGO of India.
