The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is preparing to announce its first list of candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announcing that the list will be released tomorrow.
The announcement comes after a meeting of the party's top leadership in Delhi on Friday, October 30, where discussions were held on the upcoming Assembly elections, candidate selection and key issues concerning Punjab.
According to Mann, the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will meet again tomorrow to finalise the candidates and make the list public.
Mann said AAP would seek votes on the basis of the facilities provided to people and the development carried out during its five-year tenure in Punjab.
He also targeted the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and the BJP over the state's anti-drug agenda. Mann said that if the two parties form an alliance, they must explain their position on the issue to the people of Punjab.
AAP currently has 94 MLAs in the 117-member Punjab Assembly and the party is looking to announce its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections to give them time to reach out to voters and strengthen their presence in their respective constituencies.
The 2027 Assembly election schedule has not yet been announced by the Election Commission of India.
