The Achievers Group has secured its first position in the upcoming Jullundur Gymkhana Club elections after Anu Matta withdrew her candidature for the post of Joint Secretary, citing health concerns.
Anu Matta, who was contesting the Joint Secretary position, confirmed to True Scoop that she has decided to withdraw from the election as she is currently unwell and is unsure how long her recovery may take. She said she may need around three months or even longer to fully recover.
Reportedly, Anu Matta will officially announce her withdrawal tomorrow.
With Anu Matta stepping out of the race, Harpreet Singh ‘Goldy’ of the Achievers Group is now set to secure the Joint Secretary position, making it the group’s first position in the upcoming elections.
Harpreet Singh Goldy has been associated with the club for several years and shares a special interest in the Gym section of the Gymkhana Club. He has expressed his focus on creating a healthier ecosystem at the club, particularly one that encourages more youngsters to participate in fitness and remain active.
Meanwhile, Amit Kukreja, the Achievers Group candidate for the post of Hon Secretary, is continuing his campaign and is receiving significant support from club members.
The contest, however, remains active for the other key positions.
For the post of Hon Secretary, Amit Kukreja is contesting from the Achievers Group, while Vijay Sehdev is the Progressive Group candidate.
For Junior Vice President, Dheeraj Seth is contesting from the Achievers Group, while Advocate Daljit Singh Chhabra is contesting from the Progressive Group.
For Treasurer, Saurabh Khullar is contesting from the Achievers Group, while Gurddarshan Singh Kahlon is contesting from the Progressive Group.
The two groups are also contesting for the Executive Member positions, with candidates fielded by both sides.
With the Joint Secretary position effectively going to the Achievers Group following Anu Mata’s withdrawal, the focus now shifts to the remaining three key positions and the Executive Member seats as campaigning continues ahead of the Gymkhana Club elections.
The club members have also expressed concern over Anu Mata’s health and wished her a speedy recovery.
