Daytime temperatures have started climbing again across Punjab and Chandigarh after a brief spell of cooler weather brought some relief to residents. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, several reporting stations recorded maximum temperatures between 30°C and 33°C on October 13, as per the weather bulletin dated October 14.

The rise in daytime temperatures comes even as mornings and nights continue to feel comparatively cooler in some areas. However, weather conditions may remain changeable, with the IMD warning of thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorms across Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana.

Temperatures cross 30°C in several cities

The latest observations show that the maximum temperature reached 32.6°C in Ludhiana, 32.9°C in Patiala and 32.8°C in Chandigarh on October 13. Amritsar recorded a maximum of 30.9°C, while Ferozepur registered 32.4°C.

Chandigarh's maximum temperature was 1.1°C above normal, while Ludhiana recorded a maximum 0.5°C above normal. The readings indicate that daytime warmth has returned to several parts of the region following the recent spell of cooler weather.

Thunderstorm and hailstorm warnings issued

Despite the rise in daytime temperatures, the IMD has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorms on October 14 and 15 across Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana. Residents should remain alert to changing weather conditions, particularly if strong winds or sudden showers develop.

The forecast indicates that temperatures may fluctuate over the coming days. Chandigarh's forecast points to partly cloudy skies and the possibility of rain or thundershowers on October 14 and 15, followed by mainly clear conditions over the weekend.

Cooler mornings, warmer afternoons

The difference between daytime highs and overnight lows continues to shape the region's weather. Chandigarh recorded a minimum of 19.6°C, while Ludhiana recorded 19.5°C and Amritsar 20.5°C.

For residents, this means afternoons may continue to feel warm even as mornings and evenings remain relatively comfortable. With rain and thunderstorms still possible, weather conditions may continue to change across the region.

The latest observations indicate a return of warmer daytime conditions after a short spell of relief, although further changes will depend on rainfall and local weather developments.
