After back-to-back days of severe cold and dense fog, multiple districts of Punjab have witnessed sunny afternoons. In fact, Jalandhar City on Monday morning did not witness fog. A bright sunny morning brought a major relief in the city after city and the district witnessed dense to very dense fog along with biting cold.

However, if you are thinking that the peak winters has passed in Punjab and foggy weather may not return, then you should think again. IMD Chandigarh on January 19 issued a new prediction and put multiple districts of Punjab on orange and yellow alert for dense to very dense fog.

Fog likely to return to Punjab

January 19- on orange alert for very dense fog at few places- Jalandhar, Kapurthala, and Amritsar

on yellow alert for dense fog- Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Barnala, Sanguru, Patiala, and Fatehgarh Sahib

January 20- on yellow alert for dense fog- Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, and Sangrur

January 21- on yellow alert for dense fog- Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, and Sangrur

Dense fog likely to persist till January 23, 2026 in various districts of Punjab.

Not only this, but IMD Chandigarh has also issued thunderstorm and lighting alert in multiple districts of Punjab.

January 22- on thunderstorm and lightning alert- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala
