AGI Infra Limited’s Managing Director, Sukhdev Singh, has been appointed as a member of the Punjab Government’s 13-member Real Estate Sector Committee, constituted to strengthen and reform the state’s real estate ecosystem. The committee, notified by the Department of Housing and Urban Development through official order, dated October 9, will serve as a policy advisory body to guide the government on sustainable growth, investment promotion, and regulatory improvements within the sector.
According to the department, the committee has been tasked with preparing recommendations for a new real estate policy that reflects the needs of developers, investors, and homebuyers alike. It will also examine and draw insights from the real estate frameworks of other Indian states to identify best practices that can be adapted for Punjab’s development model.
Officials said that the initiative aims to promote collaborative policymaking by involving leading professionals from across the real estate spectrum. “The committee will work to create a balanced approach that ensures the growth of the sector while maintaining transparency, accountability, and public trust,” the department stated.
The Governor of Punjab has approved the formation of various such specialised committees for different domains within the real estate sector. These panels are expected to facilitate better coordination between the government and industry, ensuring that policy reforms are both practical and inclusive.
The 13-member committee includes experts from diverse areas of housing, construction, and infrastructure. The government has also indicated that additional members may be appointed later to ensure that voices from every key segment are represented. A Member Secretary will support the committee in organising meetings, maintaining records, and preparing comprehensive reports for submission to the department.
Sukhdev Singh’s inclusion is seen as a recognition of his extensive experience and leadership in Punjab’s real estate and infrastructure development. Under his stewardship, AGI Infra Limited has delivered several landmark residential and commercial projects, contributing significantly to urban transformation in the state.
Officials expressed optimism that the committee’s recommendations would help revitalise Punjab’s real estate sector, attract domestic and international investment, and lay the groundwork for a modern, well-regulated, and investor-friendly housing policy.
