

The ‘War on Gangsters’ campaign has proven to be major success as Amritsar Police has apprehended Ranjit Singh, a fugitive in UAPA and Arms Act case. The wanted criminal was also wanted in the murder case linked to the influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabhi in Bathinda.
Under the directives of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar a campaign was launched under organized crime and anti-social elements for public safety. This reaffirms the commitment of the police in taking action against the unwanted criminal elements the region. Sharing details about the operation, the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar says that a secret intel was received and based on this information, an action was taken where multiple police teams apprehended the accused from Amritsar under the supervision of senior officers.
Reports confirm that Ranjit Singh was absconding after being released on bail in a case registered by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar, in which two hand grenades and a pistol were recovered. He is also linked to earlier violent incidents, including the vandalism of statues depicting Bhangra/Giddha near Sri Darbar Sahib along with co-accused Amritpal Singh Mehron.
The arrest was made under the directions of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, as part of the ongoing crackdown on gangsters and anti-social elements.
