In a massive development, Amritsar Rural SSP Maninder Singh on Saturday was suspended by the Punjab Government. As per information received, Maninder Singh has been suspended as Amritsar Rural SSP due to failure to take action against gangsters.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has already made it clear that 'no negligence in action against gangsters will be tolerated.'
IPS officer Maninder Singh assumed charge as Senior Superintendent of Police, District Amritsar Rural, in February 2025. Amritsar Rural Police had also posted his picture on its official X handle.
IPS Maninder Singh is a 2019 batch officer. Before taking charge as SSP Amritsar Rural, he was posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Amritsar City Police Commissionerate.
He also previously served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Tarn Taran district. He was then appointed ADC to the Governor of Punjab.
Notably, Punjab CM Mann during the Tarn Taran by-election had said that previous governments damaged the state's infrastructure, fostering the growth of gangsters and mafias. His government is rectifying this situation. There is no place for gangsters, smugglers, criminals, and anti-social elements in Punjab, and the government is eliminating them.
