Antim Ardas Held for Varinder Ghuman in Jalandhar; Friends Demand Fair Probe into His Death

The final prayer ceremony of Punjab’s renowned bodybuilder Varinder Ghuman was held in Jalandhar on Thursday. Punjabi actors Kartar Cheema and Paramjit Singh Sohi attended the event to pay their respects.

Paramjit Singh Sohi described Ghuman as “the lion of Punjab.” He shared an emotional story, recalling, “When Ghuman first arrived in Mumbai, people there were shocked to see such a tall and strong Punjabi man. They wondered where such a powerful ‘gabru’ had come from.”

Several political leaders, including AAP leader Rajwinder Tihar, former MP Sushil Kumar Rinku, and Mahendra Singh KP, also came to offer condolences. Former MP Rinku urged the Aam Aadmi Party government to form a special panel to investigate Ghuman’s death, stating that fans and family deserve to know the real cause behind it.

Ghuman’s family has demanded justice, alleging that his death on October 9 resulted from medical negligence, which led to a fatal heart attack. Earlier, the family had organized a candle march in Jalandhar, which saw participation from leaders of multiple political parties.

Ghuman’s friends also raised concerns over the circumstances of his death. They claimed that his body had turned blue and accused the hospital of negligence. A heated argument reportedly broke out between his friends and doctors. Dr. Aniket, who was present at the hospital, stated that all the medicines given during and after the operation were recorded in official files.

Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat also visited Ghuman’s residence to express condolences. He assured the family that a thorough investigation would be conducted to uncover the truth. “We will take strict action against anyone found guilty,” he said, adding that he had already discussed the matter with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
