

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sukhchain Singh was shot at while he was returning to his village after completing his duty, police said. The incident took place around 300–400 metres from his village.
According to Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Praveen Kumar Sinha, ASI Sukhchain Singh stated that three men riding a motorcycle fired at him.
The police have registered an FIR against unknown persons and launched an investigation into the incident.
Police trace route taken by ASI
Sinha said the route taken by the ASI has been traced as part of the investigation. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the firing and are looking into every possible angle.
The officer said one shot was fired at the ASI. Although the injury is serious, it is not life-threatening, and the bullet did not injure the bone.
Motive and attackers yet to be identified
Police said the investigation is currently at an initial stage and no possibility can be ruled out at this point.
Details regarding the motive behind the attack, the identity of the attackers and the circumstances leading to the firing are expected to become clear as the investigation progresses.
Sinha said police are hopeful of reaching the truth soon, while all necessary aspects of the case are being investigated.
