

A horrific road accident near the Khangura village cut on the Phagwara-Chandigarh bypass left around half a dozen people seriously injured.
According to preliminary information, the accident allegedly occurred after the car driver dozed off while driving. The vehicle reportedly rammed into the railing of a bridge before falling into the fields alongside the road.
Passengers Were Returning From Beas
Family members of the injured said the passengers were travelling back towards Balachaur after visiting the Beas Dera. The group was passing through Phagwara when the car met with the accident near the Khangura cut.
Several passengers suffered injuries in the crash, with some reportedly sustaining serious injuries.
Information by the family memeber
According to a family member of the injured family who was travelling in another car behind, said that there were 6 people in the car returning from the Beas shrine. 2-3 have sustained serious injuries while many have broken their legs and hands
According to him, the clear information of how the incident happened remains unclear.
Passersby, STF Team Rescue Injured
Soon after the accident, people passing through the area rushed to help the injured.
According to the son of Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, the injured passengers were quickly taken out and shifted to Civil Hospital, Phagwara, in ambulances. An STF team present in the area also assisted in the rescue operation.
Car Crashes Through Railing, Lands in Fields
The vehicle reportedly hit the railing of a bridge with considerable force before falling into the adjoining fields.
The exact sequence of events is still being investigated. Police officials said they received information about the crash and immediately reached the spot.
In conversation with the police official
According to an official from SSF, the car was travelling from Amritsar to Balachaur near Nawashahr. The police informed that the injured were returning from Beas. The exact reason of the accident is under investigation.
Police Begin Probe
Police said the accident took place around three kilometres from the Mehta bypass towards the Chandigarh side.
After reaching the location, officers assessed the situation and ensured that the injured were transported to the hospital for treatment. Officials said the exact cause of the accident would be established after a detailed investigation.
No Fatalities Reported
Despite the severity of the crash and the injuries suffered by the passengers, no loss of life was reported in the incident.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, while the injured remain under medical care.
