In a major development, a court of in Jalandhar on Thursday directed all social media platforms to take down the viral edited video of former Delhi CM Atishi Marlena. The order was passed by the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harpreet Kaur.
The viral clip had showcased Atishi making controversial remarks and using the word 'Guru'. However, as per reports, the viral video is found to be digitally manipulated.
The court observed that the video’s circulation posed a threat to public order and religious harmony in Punjab.
As per the order copy, the police submission to the court detailed that the video file was analysed by Senior Constable, a social medial expert posted in Technical Cell since 2024 using Al tool "Gemini.ai", which shows that the video is fake and digitally altered.
Furthermore, this was followed by a comprehensive audit at the state forensic science laboratory (FSL) in Mohali.
Hence, based on the findings, the court ordered to block all the content linked to the doctored video of Atishi on social media.
The court order reads, "Meta Platforms, Instagram, Facebook, X and Telegram are directed to remove the content.... The allegedly offensive material is directed to be removed forthwith and in any event within 24 hours of the receipt of the Court order."

Earlier, an FIR was registered on January 7 following a complaint by local AAP leader Iqbal Singh Bagga, who alleged that the video, circulated by BJP leader Kapil Mishra, Congress MLAs Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Pargat Singh, and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on their X accounts, was maliciously edited to create a political uproar.
