Days before the Prime Minister’s visit to Chandigarh and Jalandhar, Emails targeting Jalandhar and Chandigarh schools have been sent to the officials on Monday morning i.e. 13 July, 2026. The same email also targets the Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu and also mentions a blast at the Chandigarh Mayor’s office.

Email warnings

According to the email, improvised explosive device (IED) blasts would be carried out at local schools, the Mohali Mayor's Office, and the railway stations in Jalandhar and Chandigarh. The sender claimed that schools would be targeted at 1:11 pm, while the Mohali Mayor's Office would be attacked at 3:11 pm on July 17. The threatening message also urged residents of Punjab not to attend Prime Minister Modi's public rally, warning that those present could be caught in the alleged bomb blasts. It further claimed support for Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh. Authorities are working to trace the origin of the email and verify its authenticity.

The Chandigarh schools are said to be targeted at 1:11 PM while the mayor’s office to be targeted at 3:11 PM.

Motive of the threat

It claimed that the group was not targeting children but warned people to stay away from the Prime Minister's rallies. The message also included inflammatory references to slain individuals associated with the Khalistan movement. The sender, claiming to represent the so-called "Khalistan National Army," named several individuals in the email and issued a direct threat against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu. The message referred to Bittu's recent remarks against Diljit Dosanjh and threatened his life.he Email also writes in support of famous Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh and about the ban of the movie Satluj and claims Diljit as their ‘Brother’.

High security

Following the email, police and security agencies have been placed on high alert. Security has been intensified at schools, government offices, railway stations, and other sensitive locations. Authorities are treating the threat seriously and have launched an investigation to identify those responsible while strengthening security arrangements ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.
