According to the content of the threatening message circulating among authorities, it contained inflammatory statements claiming “Punjab is now Khalistan” and issued warnings to migrant communities living in the state. The message also referred to the Baddowal train incident, warning that migrants should leave Punjab by April 13 and claiming that “no migrant will be spared this time”.
The security agencies are trying to find the source of the email and track it as it originated. Cyber security officers have also been included in the case.
Police officers stated that the threat has to be taken seriously, even though such hoax emails have been received in the past. Earlier this year, on February 10, as many as 16 schools in Mohali received bomb threat emails. The email stated that there would be a blast at 1:11 PM and even went on to threaten the chief minister with the help of a human bomb. However, after extensive searches, nothing was found.
For now, police officers are deployed outside the schools that received the email in Ludhiana, and the authorities have assured the parents that all precautions are being taken while the case is being investigated.
