

Fortis Hospital in Punjab’s Mohali and nearby schools in the area have received a bomb threat on Tuesday. The threat was received via an email following which the concerned authorities swung into action. The schools who received these bomb threats were safely evacuated and a through probe is underway. It is noteworthy that the Fortis Hospital that has received the bomb threat is the same hospital where Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is currently admitted.
As per reports, the threatening email was received around 8:30 AM and the security agencies were alerted immediately. It was also revealed that Fortis Hospital situated in Mohali has also received bomb threat where police teams and other officers were rushed to the scene. Gyan Jyoti School in Phase 2 has been declared closed following the threat email. Currently, teams are conducting checks inside the premises and tight security is being maintained.
The email mentions that schools of Mohali and Fortis Hospital will be bombed today around 1:11 PM. The email appears to have been sent by some Khalistani group ‘Punjab hul Khalistan’. It warns the people to keep the schools in Mohali closed if they want to save their kids. The email directly targets CM Mann and alleges that he has been conducting ‘fake encounters’ against Khalistani outfits. The email also contains some names: Khalistan National Army, Engineer Gurnakh Singh, Rukn Shahwala, Dr. Gurmirvir Singh and Khan Rajada. The bomb threat comes at a crucial time as CBSE exams are beginning today. Class 10th Maths exams is scheduled for today.
SP Dilpreet Singh talking to the media about the threats mentions that sixteen schools of Mohali and Fortis Hospital have received this threat mail. Following this, five anti-sabotage were activated and non-essential services were stopped and checked. The officer assured that an investigation is underway and protocol is being followed.
Talking about the CM’s relocation, the SP says that, “There is nothing like that as of now and the CM’s team is fully alert.
Anit Bedi, director of Gyan Jyoti School in Phase 2 says that the bomb threat email was received around 8:30 AM in the morning and as soon as this came to light, authorities were informed. The school premise was evacuated and students were returned back to their homes.
The director said, “The campus was cleared in 10 minutes. We immediately informed the police. A PCR team arrived at the scene. Several schools received emails.”
