CM Mann launches ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme for 40 Lakh families in state; includes free food kits

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the launch of ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme after the Punjab Cabinet meeting that took place today (February 23). The Chief Minister held a briefing and detailed that the scheme is set to benefit around 40 Lakh families in the state. Reportedly, under this scheme the government will prepare a food kit that will be distributed to blue card holders.

As per the information, the kit will include 2 kg pulses, 2 kg sugar, 1 kg of iodized salt, 200 grams of turmeric powder and one liter of mustard oil. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann shares that this scheme would benefit all the blue card holder families in the state by providing them free food kits in addition to wheat supplied under existing welfare programs. The CM emphasized that this initiative has been specifically designed to ensure that less privileged and poor households receive quality food ensuing a nutritious diet on a regular basis.

CM mentions that regular quality checks would be carried out to ensure appropriate standards and it would be ensured that beneficiaries receive standard food items like those used in ordinary households. Talking more about the objective of the scheme CM says that the move has been made in order to address the nutritional gaps among children and members of low-income families. He shares how many children from economically weaker sections of the society do not get a balanced and nutritious meal that hinders their overall growth and development.  

The Chief Minister ensures that the government is committed to ensuring that every household in the state has easy access to a well-balanced diet that does not compromise with nutritious food and that no family is deprived of the basic dietary needs.
