Cold claims life of one-month-old infant in Gurdaspur

A devastating incident has come to light from Khassa village, under Kalanaur block in Gurdaspur. A one-month-old baby, Prabhnoor Singh, has fallen prey to the cold weather and lost his life. This incident has left the family completely devastated.

The deceased infant’s father, Kulbir Singh talking at the Community Health Centre in the Kalanaur block says that the child was perfectly fine and doing well. He says, that the infant was feed milk at the night and a room heater was also placed near him to protect him from cold. The baby was put to bed after that, and he slept peacefully and showed no major movements after some time. After noticing that, the infant was taken to the Community Health Center in Kalanaur for check-up.

Present at duty, pediatrician Dr. Vishal Jaggi, declared the child dead. Dr. Jaggi states that the infant had passed away due to pneumonia. The doctor has advised mothers to keep young children wrapped in warm cloths and keep them protected from the cold. He also advised against feeding kids while sleeping. He adds that infants must only be breastfed and advised that mothers must be extra vigil to protect them from cold.
