Cold Wave Warning in Punjab: Temperature to Drop by 2°C in the Next 48 Hours

A yellow alert for cold wave has been issued in six districts of Punjab — Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazilka, Bathinda, and Mansa. The alert will remain in effect for the next 48 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, the state will experience an increase in cold during this period. The minimum temperature across Punjab is currently 2.7°C below normal.

As per official data, the maximum temperature in the state has fallen by 0.1°C and remains close to the normal range. Earlier, most cities recorded temperatures near 30°C, but now they range between 26°C and 29°C. The minimum temperature has also dropped by 0.7°C, remaining 2.7°C below normal.

Faridkot recorded the lowest temperature at 7.2°C, followed by Amritsar (9.6°C), Ludhiana (9°C), Patiala (10.1°C), Bathinda (8°C), Gurdaspur (10°C), and SBS Nagar (9.1°C).

Over the next 48 hours, Punjab will continue to experience the impact of the cold wave, with temperatures expected to drop by up to 2°C. After that, a slight improvement is likely, and the temperature may begin to normalize.

In Pathankot, Gurdaspur, and Amritsar, the minimum temperature could dip to 6–8°C, while other regions of the state are expected to record 8–10°C. Northern and western districts are likely to remain colder than normal, whereas other areas may see temperatures close to the seasonal average.
