Under the directions of Shri Satinder Singh, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, and under the supervision of Shri Aditya S. Warrier, IPS, DCP City Jalandhar, Smt. Madhvi Sharma, PPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-2, Jalandhar, and Shri Aatish Bhatia, PPS, ACP West, Jalandhar, and following the directions issued from time to time, the gang involved in incidents of child abduction in Jalandhar City was traced and apprehended under the supervision of SubInspector Gurdeep Chand, SHO Police Station Basti Bawa Khel, Jalandhar.
On 17.09.2026, Sub-Inspector Gurdeep Chand, SHO Police Station Basti Bawa Khel, and ASI Sukhdev Chand, In-charge Ladhra Complex Police Post, Commissionerate Jalandhar, acting upon the above directions, registered FIR No. 277 dated 17.09.2026 under Sections 140(3), 3(5) BNSS at Police Station Basti Bawa Khel, Commissionerate Jalandhar. Following the abduction of a 04-year-old child, various police teams were immediately deployed. Within approximately 08 hours, the child was traced and safely recovered and handed over to the family. Further investigation was carried out, and within approximately 72 hours, the main accused, Rajat Rattu alias Rocky, was apprehended through a confidential source as per law. The accused along with another associate, had abducted the 04-year-old child with the intention of child trafficking. The accused had used an Activa scooter to abduct the child. The said white-coloured Activa scooter without a registration number has also been recovered.
The investigation of the case is continuing, and efforts are being made to apprehend the second accused at the earliest. If the involvement of any other person comes to light during the investigation, appropriate legal action will be taken against such person on the basis of facts and evidence, in accordance with law. The investigation will be completed thoroughly from all angles.
